The Big Leauges

We are focusing on Tanner Boy these days. He is into baseball and soon will be leaving home to play for the major league.

This year it is coach pitch. He really has fun, even with the bugs on the ground, the airplanes in the sky and occasionally the ball.

We have had coats on with the fun weather we have had here. There was a hope of sunshine with the rainbow. Tanner Boy is #13 and he got new baseball pants for his bday.

Good luck Tanner with your fun baseball!

Corbin is a part of the fun as well. He loves to wear Tanner's baseball helmet and does so while playing on the playground nearby. A little top heavy, don't you think?

I cannot get the picture to turn clockwise, tilt your head and enjoy.

Happy Birthday Tan Man

Tanner Boy turned the big number 7 on June 8. I cannot believe my little baby boy is getting so big! I never imagined this. He is such a wonderful tender hearted boy. He is always playing with Corbin and Savannah and wants them to be happy. Tanner is working on the 13th Article of Faith and he will have memorized them all.

He loves to read and just finished a 100 page version of Moby Dick. He loved it. His next challenge is Summer of the Monkeys.


He also loves to use him imagination and build some pretty impressive things with Tinkertoys, legos and lincoln logs.

We sure love our Tanner Boy, Happy Birthday!

It was his year to have a birthday party. He chose to have a Science Themed party. We had a great time.

At our house, the kids get to decorate their own cake, they love it and look forward to it. They get to choose the frosting and sprinkles and how the decorating will take place. Tanner chose to sprinkle red and white sprinkles around the outside edge, orange in the letters (the bottle spilled onto the "a") and he wanted green and black in the middle. My neighbor, MJ (so thoughtful and ate it with a smile of enjoyment) said it looked like a quilt. So nice.

Corbie had a lot of fun being a part of Tanner' s big day. Tanner was extra nice to help make it fun for Corbin and Savannah.

Tanner opened up his present from G and G Thomsen. Notice the way he says "Moby Dick" with his 2nd present. awesome.

This was an experiment we did with the kids at the birthday party, watching molecules expand (blowing up ivory soap to incredible size).

We also blew up balloons by making CO2 also made slime and goo. We had so much fun.

One saturday morning, we were trying to catch a little extra zzz's and here comes my two cowboys.

Tanner had gotten Corbin out of bed and they played cowboys and Indians, I guess we were the Indians.

Don't let my good looks and great jammies fool you, I am a real cowboy and can 'shoot em up' at any moment!

You asked for it, "Put up your dukes!"

Stimulating the economy

In the beginning....(nathan-"oh man, sheesh, call in the troops!")

We decided it was our American duty to help the economy out of this recession. We bought the big play structure at Costco for our little yard. I think it sort of looks like a yacht in a pond. The kids and neighbors love it!

Nathan slaved on it for about 3 days. The kids 'helped'. Corbie found some of the little screws and help to scatter them across the lawn. So helpful! Tanner helped to build the rock wall and Savannah contributed by playing with Corbie so we could work.

After it was finished YES! we then had to seal it from the rain/sprinklers. That is where I came in. Nathan had to take over because I had a mutual activity. He did a huge body spread on the top of the roof to reach the far corner. (have to seal everything right?) I am thinking he is pretty much lucky he did not crash right down on his head!

We have big plans for sleep outs in our fort, Savannah and neighbor girls play serious "house" in it and Tanner and friends play pirates. Corbin just goes up and down the slide all day long, happy as can be.

He loves to swing "undog mom" "undog mom" (underdog mom!)

Memorial Day Bike Adventure

Nathan and I decided it would be fun to bike down to Shoshone Falls. He got the bikes prepped and ready, I got the treats, diaper/wet wipes and coats, off we went. Tanner on his own bike, Savannah on the tandem hooked up to Nathan and I pulled Corbin in the bike trailer.

Tanner did so well. (granted majority of it was downhill), but we decided to go to Dierke's Lake instead of all the way down to the Falls. At the Lake we hopped on the dirt trails and off we went.

We found a spot for the kids to explore and climb on the rocks. First off there was tons of animal droppings of some sort. Nathan claimed it was a jaguar or something ferocious (I did find myself checking the cliffs out-perhaps we were being eyed as hearty meals). We did find a little stink bug beetle, of course Tanner wanted to jump on it and squish its' guts to see if it stinks. No sooner had we climbed maybe 3 boulders did it begin to rain. And it came fast. We found a little cave for the kids to hide out in. (the beetle had the same idea, except he did not survive, a bottom or shoe did squish its little guts).

The rain showered down, there was not any room for us in that little cave. Nathan and I smashed ourselves against a rock and tried to think dry. We did not succeed. We were pretty much drenched.

We did however, survive and biked our way out of the canyon and to our home, safe and sound.

On the way out we found some Elk. All in all it was a great adventure!

The Ball

Savannah approached me and asked if we could get dressed up and pretend. I took her hand and went to my closet to look for a beautiful princess dress for me. (she found me a crown)Unfortunetly, I do not own any quality princess attire. She found my wedding dress and the decision was made.

We turned on some music and she and I danced.

It really was fun and the twinkle in her eyes seemed magical.

(don't be too suprised, the dress does not actually fit, it is not zipped up in the back-kids have a way of making clothes tend to not fit as well).

Savannah chose her outfit, the white gloves and dress are from her "Fairy Godmother" (she leaves a present hanging on our tree every now and then). Savannah told me one day, "Mom, I think the Fairy Godmother had to leave Cinderella's house to come to mine". I love it!

Corbie

Corbie out of the bathtub and clean for a moment. It was one of 'those' kind of needed baths. I mean it was EVERYWHERE! We had to visit the garage sink before the big tub was even allowed. After he was all clean he gave me those 'you cannot resist me' looks and I was won over again!

Savannah wanted to get in with Corbin. I am sure if she knew why he was having a bath, she would not be interested, but for now, they had a great time.
